outfit snapshots – first of 2015

well, hello first outfit of 2015.  I am curious what type of fashion choices this year will bring.  I think I have experimented with fashion in the last couple of years and at this point I feel as I’m over it. But that could change next week. Because that’s what I do. Change my mind a lot that is. So probably next week I’ll have an outfit that consists of bright colors from head to toe.

If heels are not your thing, there is another option which also works great – short black boots which are on sale right now.

Coat: J.Crew old (here and here)  (gorgeous option $$)

Sweater: Zara – other amazing options herehere, herehere

Jeans: Mother (similar for less)

Booties: Zara  – still drooling over these (similar on sale + extra 40% off, option under $35)

Bag: Mansur Gavriel (similar in leather and here and here in faux leather)
Personalized Bracelet: BaubleBar

When I was in my teen years, my wardrobe mainly consisted of gray, white, black, tan and brown pieces.  Eventually my closet started getting a lot more colorful…and colorful it is now, seriously colorful (partially because of blogging I’m sure).  Even though I still love color, the past few months I’ve been drawn back to neutrals a lot more, with a pop of color here and there, and that’s what I always feel most comfortable in and me (and a major bonus? neutrals are foolproof when it comes to mix and matching. and who doesn’t want to get the most out of their wardrobe).

This winter I’ve been into big, cozy sweaters (if that was not already obvious). So be prepared to see more cozy sweaters (I’ll try to not overwhelm you 😉

And now a question for y’all – what would you like to see more of this year on this bloggy of mine?

Hi! Gorgeous outfit as usual! I'd love to see more 'simple is better' outfits. You have a knack for adding just enough without going overboard. Also would love to see one basic item used different ways. Maybe refer back to previous outfits? Thanks!

I'm feeling the same way! I've always loved neutrals, but I've also been incorporating more colour and pattern into my wardrobe. As much as I love the brights, I always feel best in my neutrals!JackieSomething About That

I used to be a faithful follower of your blog and love your style choices but a while back you had said that you were overwhelmed with the amount of questions and fashion advice people were asking you and it made you not want to blog. I feel that if you put yourself out there and people seek your advice, it is because they truly admire your eye for fashion. I took it as "Look at me, but don't talk to me" type of post and after that, I stopped following. Your posts still pop up via FB and again, I think they are great. Not trying to start anything so please don't take it that way, but take people's inquiries as a compliment and not a burden. You are great at what you do 🙂

Thanks for taking time to comment. One of the things I enjoy the most about blogging is connecting with other women who enjoy fashion as much as I do, wether that is through comments or emails. So I had to look up that post you mentioned (the post was from August 2012 and I reverted it back to drafts a week later or so). The main purpose of that post was me just "letting it out"/sharing my feelings since I did feel overwhelmed by life in general, and NOT by any emails I receive(d) from my readers (and I would never say that any emails from my readers overwhelm me and that any emails would make me stop blogging. I must say that such a thing would be ridiculous to say. I said in that post and I still say it that I feel honored that anyone would trust my fashion choices to ask me any styling, or any other, questions). I just truly felt bad not being able to reply to emails right way, sometimes it took months and that was me apologizing in that post (I was blogging only in free time at that time). So yes, I did say I was overwhelmed and when I felt overwhelmed I stopped blogging, reading my emails/replying to my emails. I'm sorry you misunderstood the post as it certainly was not me complaining about any emails from my readers (even the ones that just ask a question without saying "Hi" or "thank you), again it was just apologizing for late replies or sometimes no replies. Even though I received a ton of encouraging and wonderful comments (and sometimes that's all we need, is a word of encouragement as we're human), I removed the post as I didn't want to come across complaining (which I did mention was not the purpose of that post) as someone will always misunderstand what one was trying to truly say. It always happens, no matter what the subject is 🙂 That's one of the reason I try to keep it strictly fashion related on here and no longer share much other than outfits.I do appreciate you being honest and hopefully this cleared up the misunderstanding and what the post was truly about. 🙂

I would love to see what your idea of a capsule wardrobe is. I am currently working on putting together a few different capsules (one for work, one for weekend, and one of necessary basics). I would love to see what you would put in yours!Mistywww.balancingahecticworld.blogspot.com

One thing I dont think I have ever seen you do is a pants outfit appropriate for an office. You have done some great skirt outfits that would work, but every pant outfit I have seen you wear is too casual looking. I wear more pants to work than skirts and would love some fresh ideas. Thanks for all your hard work – I enjoy following you!

Thanks for your suggestion. I haven't done too many of those in 2014, probably less than five. But years prior a ton. Stay tuned for some ideas. 🙂

I love your blog and your posts! I dig the grey on grey with the pop of pink. I feel like most of my winter wardrobe is grey or black…oops!

Thank you AJ 🙂 I think this winter is the first winter in a long time that I've been navigating towards neutrals (and then there is my bright pink coat lol). But gray and black wardrobe…can't go wrong. Right now I can live in those two colors and be completely happy 🙂
