A lot of coats, like the one I’m wearing here, one don’t have much shape to them. Unless they are worn belted, they look boxy and unflattering. Which, when reading reviews on belted coats like this one, seems to be the biggest complaint.
The easiest way to solve this problem is by tying the belt in the back, as seen in the picture below (you can do it any way you want). It instantly adds shape, looks a lot more flattering and polished. Problem solved.
I do this with all my belted coats, including my trench coats.
I found the sleeves on this coat to be just a tad long (tends to be the case with Ann Taylor Coats) but it didn’t bother me. The coat runs slightly big…but again, when tied in the back it instantly adds flattering shape.
Coat: Ann Taylor on sale + extra % off (in xs) // Jeans: Topshop via Nordstrom (size up), similar // Sweater: BR old – similar here and here // Flats – similar here and here // Bag: Henri Bendel – 20% off ends 10/20, in love with this one //
Have a great day!
